Beauty Whisper began with Simon watching Gina hunt through YouTube - again - for something a creator had said weeks ago.
Gina watches a lot of YouTube: lifestyle vloggers, beauty creators, the women whose taste she's trusted for years. It's how she finds most of what she buys. The hard part comes later - trying to recall what someone said about a moisturizer three weeks ago. Twenty minutes of scrolling. Three vlogs half-watched at once to catch the thirty seconds that mattered. Sometimes giving up and reading Sephora reviews from strangers instead.
Simon watched this play out, in one form or another, for years. Then one night it clicked:
“I think AI could actually fix this.”
We don't come from beauty, and we're not founders by trade - Simon works in finance, Gina in consulting. We're just two people who became convinced that the kind of beauty discovery Gina wanted didn't exist yet - and that the tools to finally build it did.
So we built Beauty Whisper. It indexes product mentions from the YouTube creators we trust, the celebrity routines on Vogue, and the crowd reviews from real users on Rednote and TikTok - every one timestamped to the exact moment it was said. Nothing is paid. Nothing is sponsored. No “10 best moisturizers we were sent for free.”
For now it's a side project - one we hope becomes genuinely useful for people like Gina, anyone who'd rather not spend a Sunday afternoon scrolling to make a good choice. If we save you twenty minutes and one bad lipstick, we'll call it a win.

When a product appears on Beauty Whisper, a creator we index actually said it - in their own words, on their own channel. We capture the exact moment, the exact quote, and whether they recommended it.
We index four kinds of sources: English-language YouTube creators (skincare, makeup, lifestyle), CJK creators reviewing Asian beauty, Vogue's celebrity Beauty Secrets series, and short-form mentions on TikTok and 小红书 (Rednote). The throughline isn't a language or a platform - it's whether the recommendation is given without sponsorship pressure, in someone's own voice.
Every product has its own page with the exact quote and timestamp from each mention. Collections group products by how people actually shop - Dry-skin saviors, K-beauty essentials, Luxury worth it - with a short editorial note explaining why each pick belongs there. The ranking is deterministic (unique creators first, then mention count), not paid.
Beauty Whisper may earn a small commission when you purchase through a retailer link on this site - the same model as Wirecutter or The Strategist. Retailers pay us; brands never do. Coverage is independent of those partnerships: a product can have only negative mentions and we'll still surface them honestly.
